How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I keep my mind and body strong by visiting the gym 2-3 times a week while maintaining a healthy diet. One of my passions is putting my mountain bike on the back of my car and hitting the trails.

Name & Location: Ximena Garcia – Bogotá, Colombia

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? For me, smiling is the key. Understanding that people want to do their best and be empathic. Also I get up early and workout early in the morning and prepare my own food. Helping people will always be a great pleasure for me.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I love to dance, but every day I do functional training and alternate with CrossFit.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. My greatest inspiration is to feel vital. My husband accompanies me in this lifestyle, he also exercises and is a happy person.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I garden, spend time with my family, try a lot of different vegan “cheese”, and DIY anything I possibly can!

What’s your favorite way to move your body? Yard work/Gardening. I honestly love it!

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. My son, for sure. He’s got so much energy but at the same time is so loving and willing to do anything to spend time with me. I want to be my best self for him!

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I practice positive thoughts, take time for myself, and whenever possible maintain healthy eating and habits, but without worrying too much about it. A balanced life is a happier life!

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I do Pilates and Walking.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself?  I love exercising and find it helps me manage my stress while keeping me fit. I also really enjoy reading (and recognize I do not do it enough) and believe a good diet is important, so chocolate and ice cream are always on the menu.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? My favorite sports to practice are Kyokushin karate (full contact karate) and running.  I started running a few years ago to get me fitter for karate competitions, but I ended up falling in love with running and I now can’t live without it.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. My kids Holly and Ryan inspire me in my wellness journey.  As I strive to maintain my own health through exercising, I hope to inspire them a little every day in keeping fit and healthy.

Name & Location: Edgar Torres – Charlotte, NC.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I try to be active every day stretching, doing planks, push-ups and going our for 5K runs. I also practice karate twice a week with my family.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? Playing soccer, practicing martial arts and going outside and run.  

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: Honestly I don’t have one, but I get inspired by watching soccer games, movies like Rocky and fitness videos. I like to be active because I feel good, more confident and with more energy.

Dothan, Alabama - Jeni Snellgrove

Name & Location: Jeni Snellgrove - Dothan, AL.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I attempt a healthy, happy life through balance and getting enough sleep.  Balancing food – eating what I love that isn’t healthy in small quantities and eating lots of healthy vegetables and salads.  We attempted to go meatless after my husband’s heart attack, but he revolted. (LOL) 

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I enjoy walks in the evening with my husband.  One of my co-workers also told me about doing squats while I blow dry my hair – so it’s in my routine now.  

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: My husband inspired my wellness journey.  He suffered from a heart attack in May of 2020.  He kicked a tobacco habit, started a strict diet, began exercising and taking supplements.  He has lost 50 pounds to date.  He lowered his A1C from 6.4 to 5.3.  His cholesterol is back to normal.  He went from walking laps around the living room out of breath, to walking 3-4 miles in the evenings.  He looks and feels great.

Dothan, Alabama - Lakeyn Peters

Name & Location: Lakeyn Peters - Dothan, AL

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? In 2017 I decided to take my life back. I have always struggled with my weight even as a child but nearing 30 and having small children that depend on me, is what got my attention. I got serious about my weight issue and lost a total of 176 lbs. from my highest weight. It Is not easy to keep off (especially when SEL feeds us so well 😉 folks here call it happy weight – I call it, I better start running to work, or I am going to be living in stretchy pants soon. Ha-ha. )

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I tend to focus on getting those good endorphins pumping by doing outdoor activities and sight seeing with my kids. Practicing self-care is a priority. I try and limit portions and when I can, get lots of cardio in. I stink at weights – I do not have good form and am super awkward, but a “log” (lazy jog) or a 5K walk/run for a cause is my favorite.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. I find inspiration in my kids. I want to set an example for them by showing them that while this is a hard thing, you are capable of doing it and making a difference. They push me to be a better version of myself each and every day. I want to live a long, happy life, watching them grow into healthy, happy and successful men.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I love hiking and climbing. I like being outdoors and being in touch with nature. It helps relieve stress and achieve a better, happier life!

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I like being active in general so any activity, especially outdoors, is fun. However, my all-time favorite way to be active is rock-climbing.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. The most influential person on my wellness journey is a close friend of mine and coach (ig:@coachg_katrantzis) who inspires me to stay healthy, mindful and active every day.

Your favorite quote or mantra. “Just do it” by Nike. To me it means that everything is possible, and it symbolizes that the world doesn’t have to be perfect for us to be well, healthy and active.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I try to keep active and practice self-care. 

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I’m a big fan of the flow arts; think hula hooping, or dancing with props like flags or fans. I also enjoy HIIT classes and jogging.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: My Mom. She was terminally ill but that didn’t stop her from always moving regardless of how hard it was.

What’s your favorite way to move your body?  I enjoy a variety of sport including Biking, Running, Tennis, Golf and Skiing/ Snowboarding

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: Bob Morris. Seeing him in those Triathlons is inspiring.

Lakewood, Colorado - Jennifer Williams

Name & Location: Jennifer (Jenni) Williams – Lakewood, CO

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I prioritize spending time doing things I love and things that help me feel better. Whether it is Sunday Fundays with my family, random dance parties with my girlfriends, or going on a walk with my husband where we can simply breathe and connect, there is always time to enjoy those little things that mean a lot. I also embrace the importance of getting good sleep and staying organized to reduce un-necessary stress and chaos!

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I love getting out and exploring new places! I’m always looking for someplace new to enjoy and see – and the best way to get to know a place is by walking around. I never pass up an opportunity to try something new.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. Most recently, it has been Rebel Wilson.  She’s an amazing funny actress who loves the body she is in.  She didn’t allow critics of her size to make her feel bad about herself.  She embraced herself, perceived imperfections and all.  When she was ready to become more fit and embrace a healthier lifestyle, she did it on her own terms. She focused on her mental health as much as her physical body.  I find her very impressive!

Your favorite quote or mantra. “Breathe in, Breath out, Move on.”  Jimmy Buffett.  It works on so many different levels.  (I love it so much, I got it tattooed recently!)

Lewis Center, Ohio - Heidi Cockrell

Name & Location: Heidi Cockrell - Lewis Center, Ohio

How do you create a happy, healthy lifestyle? Staying active with my husband and five kids whether that is hiking, going to the gym or playing a game of tag in our backyard. Trying to squeeze in veggies everywhere – my kids all love fruit but sometimes are picky with vegetables.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? Recently I found cardio drumming and pound classes – they are so much fun and a great workout!

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. My kids inspire me but especially my two oldest daughters – they push themselves so hard and will also push and encourage me.

Name & Location: Kevin Burke – works for Engineering Services out of Columbus, Ohio.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I LOVE food, especially cooking fresh delicious meals for family and friends. I recently started making my own sourdough loafs! Every aspect of the dining experience is something I cherish, because what’s better than breaking bread with the people you care about.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I enjoy being active in many ways – including running, biking, swimming, hiking, climbing, and doing yoga. Being active, especially outdoors, is something I does for fun but also to relieve stress

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I like to swim, hike, bicycle and play sports with my son. My 4 year old daughter also has become interested in yoga so we have been introducing this into our time together.

Name & Location: Brett Tuttle - Lewiston, Idaho

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? Overall, the best way I have found to create a healthy. Happy life for myself is finding thangs recreationally that are active and getting friends involved. Some examples in the summertime would be hiking and paddleboarding. And in the winter, I do a lot of skiing.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? My Favorite way to workout has been the X3 Resistance training program it's like a full gym workout that I can take anywhere so I don’t have any excuses.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey.  Jeff Cavaliere has been a huge inspiration and an amazing resource. He is a physical therapist and atheistic trainer that has entertaining and informative videos for anything you can think of involving fitness on you tube.

Your favorite quote or mantra. “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.” Self-confidence is a powerful thing.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I enjoy working out often, leading by an example through my nutrition, and consistently putting my body first with my decisions. When I am not in the gym or playing sports, I enjoy a balanced life spending time with my friends and family, or going on weekend trips

What's your favorite way to move your body? My favorite ways to be active are through city league sports. In any season of the year, you can frequently find me on a community court or field pursuing my passion of sports.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I create a  healthy, happy lifestyle for myself by staying active and eating healthy. I think its important to find things you enjoy doing to stay active and same with eating healthy. Find your healthy foods you like and don’t force yourself to eat something you don’t just because its healthy. This is a lifestyle so you want to be able to stick to it for the long haul!

What’s your favorite way to move your body? My favorite way to move my body is being outdoors with my dogs. Whether that is going for a run, walk or a hike, I am in my happy place.

It is so inspiring to see people put all excuses aside and work on bettering themselves. We all have challenges that come along and that is what makes everyone's story so inspiring to me.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? Balance! I like to follow the 80-20 method. Essentially, be good with nutrition and exercise 80% of the time, and don’t discourage yourself about the other 20%. Eat the slice of pizza and take that rest day! The 20% is just as important as the 80% for my mental wellbeing as well as sustainability. 

What’s your favorite way to move your body? CrossFit has been my passion since 2020. I love lifting heavy, spiking my heart rate, and the functional crossover to everyday movements and activities.

How do you live a happy, healthy life for yourself? By trying to eat healthy, choose my battles wisely and for give myself for my imperfections.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I have a large yard that was an overgrown flower garden when I bought my house last summer. My favorite way to move my body is to try to tame the garden.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: The one person that inspires my wellness journey is my Dad, he was diagnosed with cancer several years ago and though he lost his battle he never gave up he fought the fight and he really didn't complain much.

Your favorite quote or mantra: My favorite saying is "She has fire in her soul and Grace in her heart."

Name & Location: Sheena Herzog, and I live and work in Lewiston Idaho.

What's your favorite way to move your body? My favorite way to move my body and get exercise is by swimming. It is a great form of workout, and it is a fun activity!

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. The people who inspire me the most to live active and healthy are my 3 children. It's important to me that I maintain this, so they always have their mom around! 

Your favorite quote or mantra. My favorite quote is: "Give it to god, and go to sleep."

I try to live by this quote as much as I can, realizing that I shouldn't stress about the things I cannot control. I believe that mental health is SOO important to take care of in one's life, alongside their physical health as well. My kids are very active in sports, so I get a lot of exercise helping them practice and be successful in those.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I create a healthy, happy life for myself by making sure that everyday I make time for myself.  I have my own personal trainer, Toby, my 1 ½ year old miniature schnauzer, who makes sure I get out and walk, no matter what the weather.  I eat healthy food and try to always get enough sleep. 

What’s your favorite way to move your body? My favorite way to move is riding my bike and gardening.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: One person who inspires my wellness journey is my friend Joan.  She was diagnosed this year with Stage 4 cancer.  However, because she has lived a healthy lifestyle, she was able to go through the most aggressive form of fighting the cancer and is on her road to recovery.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself?  Basically, eat on time, don’t skip meals; not drink too many sodas; exercise, spend time with people you care, and love also have a hobby.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I think the easiest way is dancing, but also exercising I started again.

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. I think would be my mom because she enrolled me to the gym when I was 9, since then I have it as a hobby.

Your favorite quote or mantra. One small positive thought can change your whole day by Zig Ziglar, I liked that quote because it’s like a start step by step into a being a positive person.

How do you live a happy, healthy life for yourself? I create a happy, healthy life by going to a spin class multiple times a week, as well as going to the dog park with my 2 dogs.

What's your favorite way to move your body? My favorite way to move my body is by going to CycleBar, an indoor cycling class!

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: One person, (or two) that inspire my wellness journey are my parents.  They love to remain active by riding in their Cycling group, going for walks, and finding things to do outside.

Name and Location: Soraya Rodriguez Amor - Madrid, Spain

How do you live a happy, healthy life for yourself? Soraya is a qualified dance based choreographer in both Zumba and Kangatraining. She dances throughout the day and enjoys incorporating dance into her daily activities. 

What's your favorite way to move your body? Soraya enjoys anything that involves moving. This includes hiking, biking, CrossFit, and swimming. However her favorite activity is dancing. She is a decorated dancer in Bachata and Flamenco. 

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: She is most inspired by her husband. They enjoy pushing each other to be better every day, and have even developed dances together!

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I try to create a healthy and happy life by staying active with my husband and dog, and by doing yoga and guided meditation.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? Moving every day, taking a break to reflect or practice mindfulness when I need it, therapy, spending time outside whenever I can, connecting with the people I love the most, and eating what makes my body feel its best.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? Strength training, walking, yoga, and doing anything/everything I can outdoors. I love to do it all- from snowboarding and snowshoeing in the winter to hiking, camping, and paddleboarding in the warmer months. I always love learning new ways to be active.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I love keeping a variety of activities in my back pocket. Being from Idaho, there’s a ‘sport for every season’. How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself?  I am currently working on what that definition is for myself.  Right now, I am a part of the Transform program and am really trying to embrace a little of the Self Care.  I try to make sure that I keep my activity levels up with a variety of things so that my body stays moving.  I like walking, Zumba, Barre, and riding my horses.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? Riding my horse and ZUMBA!!!

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: Right now, all the lovely peeps in the Transform program as well as the AMAZING Wellbeing Staff....but what got me started with my journey was my mom.  She changed her eating habits and increased her activity levels and got healthy.  I mean she did a bunch of Spartan Races at 60!!!  I figured if she could branch out and do things, then why couldn't I.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? I try to stay active as much as possible. I love being outside so the more I can do that, the happier I am.

What’s your favorite way to move your body? I fell in love with Zumba about a year ago and now I don’t know what I would do without it. I also enjoy Running and Barre 😊

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey: Shea. She was the one who finally convinced me to give Zumba a try even if I didn’t think I’d be any good at it. She also convinced me to apply for the Spark program and was my coach for it. This really got me back into taking care of myself in so many different ways.

How do you create a healthy, happy life for yourself? A little bit about me, I have lived here in the Lafayette area for 8 years, but I originally came from the norther part of Indiana in a small town called Warsaw. I have always been an active individual throughout my life. I have played every sport in high school, basketball, football, soccer, and so on and so forth. After high school I started training in boxing and did that for 3 years and then ended up moving to Lafayette. I have gained my love for fitness through all my experiences in different sports and activities, also it has always been my stress reliever and has helped me build not only a better body but a healthy mind. 

I create a healthy lifestyle by always prioritizing my health first with my diet and always trying to keep an active lifestyle, also just doing things that make me happy like spending time being active, walking my dog and surrounding myself with friends and family. But also trying to get the proper rest when the body needs it makes sure I get around 7 to 8 hours of sleep. 

What's your favorite way to move your body? My favorite way to move my body is utilizing my kettlebells and jump rope, I can get so much done with just those two pieces of equipment. With the kettlebells you can do so many movements from deadlifts to cleans to snatches and presses. Squats and lunges and so much more, I also really enjoy stretches and movement training as well to keep the body loose and limb and being able to keep the body guessing.  

Name one person who inspires your wellness journey. It is hard to say one person has inspired my journey since there are so many people that have done that, but the biggest influence I have had on my journey has been Dwayne Johnson. I just like his mindset and the way he just always grinds and pushes himself to be better inspires me to do the same. 

Your favorite quote or mantra. My favorite quote would have been from Jerry Rice, he said “Today I will do what others won’t, so tomorrow I can do what others can’t.”
